When comparing universities on career outcomes, use rankings as a starting point to identify institutions with strong graduate employment rates, but then go deeper. Look for the university's own graduate destinations data, which often breaks down employment by industry, job role, and sometimes salary band. Check whether the university participates in the Graduate Outcomes survey and makes the results accessible. Visit the university's careers service website and assess whether it seems designed for students with your background and goals. A university that ranks slightly lower but has a careers service that actively supports students in your field may be a better investment than a higher-ranked university with generic career support.
